A person who laced sweets with sedative and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys both between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a young boy.

Ruben was held in detention before a further hearing on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.

She said his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he ran.

The defendant played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She explained the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were found, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.

She stated the man went on to play the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.

The legal representative said the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson called the police again.

She said the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
